About The Owner
At the age of 53 in March of 2000, Stephen D. Landry, owner of Landry Consulting, retired from the  Edina Fire Department, after 25 years of service. The City of Edina is an upscale suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a residential population of approximately 50,000 comprised of primarily light and medium industrial industry as well as medium to high-rise office and residential occupancies and high end housing. The influx of business causes the population to increase to well over 125,000 during a normal business day.

Steve, while serving in various capacities in the Fire Suppression  and EMS divisions of the Fire Department, responding to approximately 4500 calls annually, has focused on Prevention Services for the last 18 years of his career. He has specialized in Fire and Building Code Inspections and Enforcement with emphasis on The Uniform Codes and International Codes. He also has a strong background in Fire  Investigation, Public Fire Safety Education, Plans Review and Approval, Fire Suppression and Protection Systems, Specialized Fire Alarm and Lifesafety Systems, Strategic Plan Development, Code Promulgation and Adoption, and Management of Fire Prevention Services.

Steve considered himself a problem solver rather than an enforcer and firmly believes that the best form of Code Compliance is voluntary Compliance, and has been extremely successful working from that perspective. He is also was a strong believer in built-in Fire Protection and Education as a proactive form of Fire Suppression. He has a core belief that a fire is a failure in the system and only serves to provide an opportunity for education of the public as well as the Fire Service,  this drives his lifesafety perspective which permeates his philosophy of taking ownership in each project he chooses to become involve in.

In addition to the Construction Codes and Inspection Services, the City supported an aggressive approach to staying very active in the political aspects of the Construction Codes adoption process by involving Steve as well as other key individuals in various organizations active in State, Local and National Code Promulgation.

While Steve has been very successful in his Fire Service career, and is well respected by his peers, he has never forgotten that public interest and safety is his primary responsibility and that the key to successfully managing a responsibility of this magnitude is having a good working relationship with the public, an  extremely competent team and a high level of co-operation between the various disciplines within the construction industry and the various ancillary organizations providing services.
